The Highwood Theatre Spotlight - Samantha Marks

Samantha Marks joined the Highwood Theatre in 2015 as a student participating in the tech crew. Samantha helped contribute to all technical areas of the theatre. She helped with set design, lighting/sound, makeup, costume design, and much more. Samantha’s biggest accomplishment when participating in the tech crew was her set design for the show, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Samantha served as lead tech for this production. Her set designs play an intricate role in the success of the show. Samantha is a great asset to the Highwood Theatre and our success wouldn’t be what it is today without the help of individual’s like her.

Q&A with Samantha

What’s your favorite thing about working with the Highwood Theatre?

Beyond the hands-on experience, I have made some of my closest friends at the Highwood Theatre. Being a part of such a close-knit community is really enjoyable. Highwood is my home-away-from-home and I wouldn’t know what to do without it!

Where do you plan to take the skills you’ve developed at the Highwood Theatre?

I will be attending Boston University in the fall of 2018 to complete their technical production program. I’m positive that the skills and experience I’ve gained at the Highwood Theatre will help to create a smooth transition from high school to college. I want to join a theatre club and help their tech crew be successful like the Highwood Theatre!
